30 is the New 10

HBSU/KC Visuals has been providing video marketing solutions since 1988.  We can help you identify your customers, show you where they hang out, and improve their experience with your brand.

30 years have gone so fast, it seems like only 10 years ago we started our video journey.   When KC Visuals started in 1988, the biggest challenge was the same as any new business, which is finding customers.   I was trained in producing videos, not in producing money from the next customer acquisition.   However, the stark reality was, find customers or find full-time employment.  So, marketing and sales became a necessary part of building up the business.  So began the 30 year roller coaster ride.

One of our early customers was the American Power Boat Association, or APBA.  KC Visuals did several jobs for the APBA, covering events they ran in Newburyport, MA and then producing some 30 second spots they used to promote membership.   We had some pretty grandiose ideas for producing some major TV events with the APBA, but found out pretty quickly, that raising funds for such ventures is not an easy task, so we settled for the 30 second ads.

While President Ronald Reagan was calling for Mr. Gorbachov to tear down that wall in East Berlin, we were helping a construction company show off its new pre-fabricated wall process, a way to build retaining walls in a very short time period.   Here's a look at "Building the Wall".

One early market niche for KC Visuals was college graduations.  We lined up a pretty impressive list of schools at the time, such as Tufts University, Wellesley College, Clark University and many others.   It was a fairly easy sell to graduates and their families, offering personalized graduation tapes on VHS tape, but as technology changed, so did the video market for graduations.  Here's a simple demo tape we used to line up a number of schools when the market was good...

Getting back to today...  Story telling is what we do here at KC Visuals/HBSU, and we do it using video.  I have been telling stories with a camera since I was 10 years old and have loved doing it for a long time now. Since video is what we use as a tool to tell stories, we typically show examples of customer videos we have produced.  However, we occasionally put together demos to show a wide range of capabilties in a short video.  Here's a demo we recently posted on storytelling:

Video Marketing has been around for a long time, but it has become more and more vital every day in the digital age.  If you aren't using video to tell your story, you will get left behind by the search engines and social media platforms.   Even if it is with your phone, do some videos and get them on your website and in your social media campaigns.   Video makes a big difference, especially in search engine optimization, but it is also the preferred way of telling stories today.   KC Visuals has 30 years experience in video marketing, and we are here to help you.

I hope these video stories help you as you delve in to your own world of video marketing.   If you need more info, click the button below to learn how we can help you, and why Video Marketing and is vital to your success.

  • "I am extremely pleased with the videography work of Michael Connell at HBSU.  I contacted him just a few days before performing in a live symphonic concert at Boston's Wilbur Theater, hoping to find someone to film the show.  He was very quick to respond and not only captured excellent HD footage from multiple angles, but also took care of recording audio directly into the live mixing board - something I hadn't even thought of!  He was a professional in every sense of the word, and I wouldn't hesitate to use his services again."

  • I was initially overwhelmed with the project of scheduling and shooting videos of 16 of our doctors and providers. But working with Mike was extremely easy--his flexibility and low-key professionalism made the entire project come together easily over 4 separate shooting days. He put the subjects at ease which allowed them to talk easily about their passion for medicine. I am happy to have found such a great resource for future video projects.
