30 Years Young

HBSU/KC Visuals has been providing video marketing solutions since 1988.  We can help you identify your customers, show you where they hang out, and improve their experience with your brand.

KC Visuals is 30 years young in 2018, but my storytelling with film and video started well before 1988.   When I was 10 years old I bought my first movie camera with money I got for my birthday, and money I saved up from my paper route.  My Dad had an old Kodak movie camera but I got tired of asking to use that, so I decided to get my own.  I used that camera to film sporting events, family parties and events, and my favorite, just funny stuff with my family and friends. One drawback was that there was no sound with the movie camera, so I learned to tell stories with pictures only.   Check out some old film (forgive the quality, it's multiple generations down) I shot when I was a kid here....

I envy the kids today, having video classes and studios in middle schools and high schools, with the level of production values rivaling broadcast TV capabilities.  There was none of that in the Quincy schools I went to, so I had to wait until I was in college to pursue my career in earnest.  I went to Emerson College in Boston, where I studied Mass Communications and Broadcast Journalism, graduating in 1980.  I crack up when I look at some of the videos from those days, realizing I've come along way since then.  Check out this funny interview with disco queen Rita and host Viv.

When I graduated from Emerson in 1980, I searched for my ideal position at a TV station or film production company.   However, the first offer I got and took, was in the corporate TV world, a world I didn't even know existed.   At first look, the position as AV Producer at American Mutual Insurance Companies didn't appear to be an exciting job, but as I went along, learning as much as I could, I discovered that the creative freedom, the extensive travel, and the amazing people I met,  were well worth the change in career paths.   I left American Mutual in 1988, understanding that video marketing is used by companies for both internal and external purposes.   That fact still lives on today.  Here's an internal marketing video, used to urge sales people to meet their quota.

Back to today.  Story telling is what we do here at KC Visuals/HBSU, and we do it using video.  I have been telling stories with a camera since I was 10 years old and have loved doing it ever since that time.  If you need your story told on line, KC Visuals has the experience and capabilities needed to help you tell your story effectively using video.   Give us a call at 978-035-0373 or email me at michael@kcvisualsunlimited.com.   Tell your story and tell it with video.  It's the way of the marketing world now.
