BEFORE AND AFTER VIDEOS:
Before and After videos are an excellent method of showing transformation and change, and are a great way to promote your business. If you are in a service industry like real estate, painting, landscaping, remodeling, decorating, beauty and makeup, fitness, or weight-loss, and coaching, you can use before and after pictures or video to show stunning transformation from weak, bad and ugly, to awesome, confident and beautiful. This will impress upon your customer what great things you can do for them in a short period of time.
Shooting Before and After Videos is a pretty simple process, but it doesn't hurt to follow some simple guidelines.

Step 1: Scout the shooting location
Rule of thumb is to check out the shooting location ahead of time, so you know what you are getting in to. Take note of where the sun is, so that you can plan accordingly. It is best to have the sun falling on your exteriors from your back or over you shoulder, or from the side. Avoid backlighting or sun behind your object at all costs. It's very hard to get a great picture with backlighting.
If you are shooting inside as well, what is the lighting like? Can you get a good picture with existing light? Or do you need additonal lighting to shoot great video. Take note of electrical outlets and any other environmental factors that may play in to your picture taking, like large windows (avoid backlighting and reflection scenarios), mirrors, and hanging light fixtures. Locate your best or worst areas so that you show the most compelling transformations in your before and after scenarios.
Step 2: Be Consistent in What and How You Shoot
To be true and effective in your Before and After videos, try and shoot at the same time and same place. Frame the shots the same way so you see the real transformation happen to the same object from the same point of view. Vary what you shoot so you can see the details in wide medium and close-up shots. Show the same committment to detail in your good and bad scenarios.
If you are a painter, show the whole house and then move around and shoot closer shots of the bad parts, where's its dirty and paint is peeling, so the view gets idea the house is screaming "paint me please". Landscapers can show how high the grass is, where the bald spots are, and just how plain the yard is and then transform it into plush green grass with beautiful plants and flowers. Make-up artists can highlight a person's pimply, scaly, scarred face and then magically show the smooth, clear beauty they become. Weight loss from obese to thin... Coaches making weaklings strong...
By the way, be sure to record lots of the "During" process, so you can show how you make the transformation happen. Using timelapse video can make this part quick and fun.
Step 3: Let Your Happy Customers Tell the Story
Don't forget your customer while you shoot the before, during, and after scenarios. Interview your customer prior to starting the work, during the work, and then after the transformation is complete. Let the happy customer describe the whole process, from why they want the work done, how they are feeling during the process, and how happy they are after the process is complete. There's nothing more powerful for your business than a great customer testimonial!
That's it . Some simple steps to making effective Before and After videos. Remember, scout your shooting location prior to shooting pictures or video, be consistent each time you shoot, and how you frame your pictures, and let your happy customers tell the story.
