It's hard to believe KC Visuals is in its 30th year... but the math doesn't lie. I founded KC Visuals Unlimited in 1988 with then partner Paul Kelley, after being laid off from the American Mutual Insurance Companies. American Mutual was going into receivership, so I purchased all the video equipment from them and the rest is history. Needless to say, there has been some monumental changes in the video industry in the past 3 decades, going from analog video tape to the amazing world of digital video. I won't bore you with the details, but I thought we'd share a couple old videos so you can see how far things really have come in those 30 years.
Through the wonderful power of referral, KC Visuals very first customer was Tufts University, and the project was to shoot the 1988 Tufts University Commencement, which we recorded and edited on 3/4 inch video tape, and distributed to customers on VHS tape. Does anyone remember VHS tape? Click the link below to check out the 1998 Tufts Commencement video...
Another early project for KC Visuals was a video for the US Coast Guard, celebrating its 200th anniversary in 1989. The video included a lot of elements we shot, video supplied by the USCG, and even a short video that President George H. Bush recorded for us. Check it out below...
KC Visuals will be celebrating 30 years all year, so we will share more videos as we add more blogs over time. One challenge we had then and still have today, is finding the next customer, the next project. Marketing and referrals were key then and they are still key now. Here's a video we did for an early client, the Boston School Department...

I have been telling stories with a camera since I was 10 years old and have loved doing it for a long time now. Since video is what we use as a tool to tell stories, we typically show examples of customer videos we have produced. However, we occasionally put together demos to show a wide range of capabilties in a short video. Here's a demo we recently posted on storytelling:
